As a manager, it is important to ensure that the entire team is working towards the same goal. The management function of planning involves setting objectives that are in line with customer demand, conducting market surveys, and providing new schemes to launch new products.
Organizing the whole activity is crucial to ensure that the team operates efficiently and is divided into smaller groups, where each group tackles a specific area, like the food committee. The outlet manager is responsible for assigning tasks and ensuring that everyone works together effectively.
In order to lead the team effectively, the manager must act as a mentor, maintaining a healthy relationship with the team and motivating them to deliver their best. The manager should share the significance of the task at hand and foster a sense of ownership among the team members.
Controlling, the most important system, involves monitoring and comparing work performance to ensure that the organization operates according to the plan. The constantly growing sales of the multinational fast-food restaurant indicate that the organization's activities are completed effectively, the resources are used efficiently, and there is a constant demand from customers.
The process of monitoring, comparing, and correcting work performance is known as control. This process guides activity towards predetermined goals and allows for long-term planning. A sound control system encourages employees to work harder and deliver better results, as they know that their performance is judged and their rewards are linked to such tests.
Control is an essential management function that complements planning, organizing, and leading to enable managers to implement policies and take corrective action if required. Without control, the administration process is incomplete, making it a crucial factor of scientific management.
Task 2: A Professional Work-Related Decision Making Process
As a professional, making effective decisions is a significant responsibility, and it requires a systematic and structured approach. My decision-making process involved ensuring that the ingredients and additives of the product were compliant with international laws.
The first step was to identify the problem areas, which had resulted in customer complaints and sale loss in various regions of the world. Next, decision criteria were established, which included removing prohibited ingredients, reviewing the international laws, obtaining custom requirements from distributors and hiring an expert consultant to address the issues.
Weighing the decision criteria helped to rank the different options based on their importance. After assigning weights to each option, implementation began with data collection from the export team regarding regions where the company exported its products. The team targeted the most revenue-generating regions and researched their food regulations to create a guide sheet that helped ensure compliance with international laws.
In conclusion, effective decision-making involves a process of identifying the problem, establishing decision criteria, weighing different options, and implementing the optimal solution. This approach ensures that the final decision is more informed and results in better outcomes.
Task: Request R&D to provide us with ingredient lists based on different regions in the desired format. Then, I will review the lists against the regulatory requirements of each region and share my observations along with reference pictures from the law. Following this, R&D will formulate recipes and share the revised ingredient lists based on my feedback. Once all requirements are met, I will approve the ingredient list and provide it to the marketing and export teams for use.
Step 5: Evaluating the decision
After implementing our decision, we have experienced multiple positive outcomes, including a decrease in customer complaints and increased awareness among regions about the strict law requirements. We were able to identify and eliminate banned ingredients and additives, which reduced obstacles during exportation and saved company expenses.
Part 2:
To overcome the challenges faced by our company, we need a strong master plan. Brainstorming is essential for making any decision as every possibility can be explored with true determination and focus. Our decision to cover every product category's range was robust. We encountered product non-conformity issues as per region, but after eliminating banned ingredients and additives, we needed to perform shelf-life studies, which took considerable time and effort. Despite the uncertain situations that arise, our proactive approach in making decisions helps reduce such obstacles. I prefer linear thinking style as it emphasizes consistency and helps identify formulas/patterns that can be applied to other situations for successful results.
My decision-making style involves understanding the purpose of the task, its benefits, evaluation of conditions, and consequence of reactions. Proactivity is key, as it enhances decision-making and execution abilities. I am satisfied with my decision-making style and strive to adopt different decision-making methods like certainty, risk, and uncertainty to reduce errors in my plans.
Making the right decision at the right time can lead to remarkable success, while a single bad decision can undo all efforts. Proper research and planning are essential in making good business decisions. Decision-making can be based on experience or intrapersonal skills. For example, expanding your business demands a significant increase in production capacity. Identifying the power input, appropriate tools, and personnel for carrying out production processes helps grow the product sustainably and reduces costs.
