As someone who is new to the job market and IWSP, I found the e-learning module on job-related issues to be highly enlightening. While the module covered a variety of essential topics, I was particularly drawn to the topics of coping with rejection and effective communication.
Initially, my perception of failing a job interview was that it directly reflected my worth and skills as a professional, which made it difficult for me to cope with rejection. Consequently, I tended to ignore problems until there were only a few job opportunities left, forcing me to settle for positions that didn't interest me. The outcome left me feeling demotivated and unhappy. However, the e-learning module provided me with effective strategies for overcoming rejection, and I learned that failure is a natural component of the job search process. This significantly altered my perspective on career planning and has made me more resilient and better equipped to handle rejection while staying motivated and optimistic in the pursuit of new job opportunities.
As someone who struggles with difficult conversations, I have found it hard to establish positive relationships with colleagues, often distancing myself in any way possible. Unfortunately, this communication gap has created significant issues when it comes to teamwork with my colleagues. The e-learning module has emphasized the importance of effective communication and conflict resolution skills in the workplace. I realized the significance of being open-minded, empathetic, and determined to overcome the challenge of difficult conversations.
I recognized that my approach to IWSP needed improvement. Evaluating job suitability was not a priority, and coping with rejection was a struggle. Moreover, my fear of difficult conversations was a hindrance to building positive relationships with colleagues. To improve, I will modify my approach to IWSP by taking the time to evaluate job suitability and consider a range of factors before making any critical decisions. I will also seek out feedback proactively, using it to improve my performance. Besides, I will try to establish positive working relationships with my colleagues by enhancing my communication and conflict resolution skills. Lastly, I will stay informed and up-to-date on job-related issues to be better equipped for future career opportunities.
