Task 2 of MP100 in 2023 focuses on the Elements and Principles of Art, and for this task, my subject is a photograph of Bob Dylan taken by Richard Avedon in New York City on February 10, 1965. This image features Dylan, a renowned musician and cultural icon, and is a powerful representation of his persona and musical style.

The photograph is in black and white, with angular shapes and lines creating a timeless and rebellious vibe associated with the countercultural era of the 1960s. The strong contrast and textured appearance of the image reflect the raw and authentic nature of Dylan's music and persona. Therefore, the photographer's selection of visual elements, such as lines, shapes, colors, values, and textures, has made the photograph a lasting symbol of Dylan's cultural impact.

Line is a significant visual element used to outline and define edges and contours in a composition. In the photograph of Bob Dylan, diagonal and curved lines guide the viewer's gaze towards his face, creating a sense of focus and importance.
