In this investigation, we have found a link between academic achievement and environmental factors during online learning. Our research employed various methodologies and variables to determine the effects that environmental factors have on student performance during online learning. This research is vital in assessing the trajectory of students' performance during online learning.

Practical implications

The primary objective of our research was to determine the degree to which the environment impacts students' performance during online learning. Our findings show that declining student performance is catalyzed by factors such as internet accessibility, learning platform stability, emotional management, and holistic evaluation. This study assists in identifying and addressing these issues and implementing measures to support students. Our research also helps improve the current weaknesses by discovering innovative solutions that would enhance educational outcomes.

Contributions to knowledge

Our survey results validate the theory of the influence of engagement, understanding, and confidence on student performance and offer solutions to recurring problems. This study assists the government in improving student access to online resources and internet facilities, especially in rural areas. Furthermore, this research establishes a connection that equips students with better tools to prepare for any eventualities in online learning. Consequently, it is crucial to develop initiatives that aid students who encounter online learning difficulties by offering them access to facilities and services that would enhance their online learning experience. In conclusion, this research underscores the need for commitment from the government, universities, and individuals to ensure continuous improvement in student performance through online learning. Our study provides a basis for further research on the environmental factors that influence student performance during online learning.
