Peyush Bansal is the CEO and founder of Lenskart, a leading Indian e-commerce portal specializing in eyewear. His life has been a story of middle-class upbringing in Delhi. His father was a chartered accountant, and Peyush studied at Don Bosco School before completing his bachelor's from McGill University, Canada. While studying, he experimented with a part-time receptionist job, which sparked his interest in coding and computers. He later worked as a program manager at Microsoft to improve customer experience and went on to pursue his PG in Management at IIM, Bangalore.

Peyush's entrepreneurial journey started with the launch of a campus classifieds portal called SearchMyCampus in 2007. After launching a few startups, Peyush realized his desire to achieve something bigger. He identified a niche in the eyewear industry, where around 33% of people need glasses but lacked access. In 2010, he founded Lenskart with the idea to make his company the "Maruti of eyewear" by leveraging technology.

The company's growth was fueled by consistent funding, having raised almost $939.7 mn in over 13 rounds. However, Peyush faced several challenges related to improving access, awareness, and affordability. Marketing and persuading consumers to buy online rather than offline were also significant hurdles. Despite these difficulties, Lenskart has become one of the top 3 optical businesses in India, serving over 10 million customers across 235 cities. With a growth rate of over 200% in the last two years, Lenskart offers 5X more eyewear styles than any retailer in India, making it a significant player in the eyewear market.
