Jheo D. Paulino is a talented Multimedia Arts student. He has a unique perspective on life and has chosen to explore a thought-provoking topic in his latest work entitled "The Life of Virtue: My Path to Freedom Beyond Borders".

In this piece, Jheo discusses Nietzsche's "God is Dead" concept and how it has challenged modernity and the pious. With the rise of empiricism, skepticism, and rationalism, many people are finding it difficult to believe solely in the Christian concept of God. Jheo acknowledges that this statement can be particularly impactful in the Filipino culture, where God's name is held in high regard.

The statistics show that 8 out of 10 households in the Philippines are Roman Catholic, equaling 81.04 percent. However, Jheo believes that Catholics are the ones who have killed the idea of a loving God through hypocrisy. He notes that this issue is not limited to Catholics alone, and people of all beliefs tend to think their beliefs are superior.

Due to the continuous enlightenment, the concept of God has been killed. Jheo poses the question of where one should base their values if divine authority has lost its hold on the pedestal. He identifies himself as an Agnostic Person, but despite the uncertainty, he understands his purpose in life and tries to be good to others.

Jheo also touches on Nietzsche's theory that without God's authority, humans become apathetic and cynical. Nietzsche proposes the Übermensch or "superman," as an image of what we could be if we have now wholly dismantled the idea of good and evil.

In Jheo's case, his Übermensch would be his father, Albert Paulino. He greatly admires his father, who has taught him to stand up on his own, learn, own up to his mistakes, and accept the consequences. Jheo considers this tough love and recognizes that love is not consolation but light, as Nietzsche stated.

Jheo concludes that he does not celebrate the death of God, but he does not mourn either. He moves forward with love, inspired by his beliefs and values, which are built upon the inspiration of someone he admires.
